![]() ![]() One annoying thing is setting them up, need to adjust each speaker volume to match. I barely have them at 40% volume on the speaker, plus adjust using my computer volume. Use power out to power in on the next speaker. They daisy chain to add multiple speakers. For me it is not a big deal, if they are on it is because I have music/sound coming out. Takes ~5seconds for them to turn on from sleep mode. They auto shutoff after 20min when no sound is present, which is great. There is a slight hiss when the room is silent if using them for computer speakers and no sound is coming out, even on the latest version. For example when I was younger I had a set of logitech z5500, in comparison these blow them away. I am definitely into higher end audio gear for home theatre, so for me no computer speakers really made the cut. In my space the frequency response was quite close to other monitors that I know have a fairly flat frequency response. I would disagree with the assertion that these aren’t flat. In this price class I think those are 2 of the best options. If I could fit these under my monitors at work I would get a pair for there, but I’m limited by height so will probably get a pair of Vanatoo Transpart Zero’s. My other actives will keep going louder without any distortion or compression when the Paradigms are out of gas, but again that only happens at quite loud volumes. They play fairly loud, but because of the smallish amps and DSP’d bass the bass starts to distort when the amps run out of juice. The Paradigms had an audible hiss when no music was playing, but didn’t seem to be a problem when it was. They didn’t have quite the same level of refinement and depth as the more expensive speakers, but it’s not a huge difference. Set up properly on good stands the imaging is excellent. These are sealed speakers as well and the bass is good quality it’s not boomy like the Audioengines. No doubt this is due to the DSP as those other speakers have all analog amps and crossovers. I measured them at my listening position and was surprised to see they actually go lower in the bass compared to the other monitors which are all larger, have bigger mi-woofers and are ported. I’ve had them in my system compared to much more expensive (and powerful) active monitors, and they didn’t give up that much to them. ![]() They’re true actives with DSP, so 4 amps connected directly to the drivers, where the Audioengines are powered passives. The Paradigms are in another league compared to the Audioengine’s. ![]()
